iOS 12 Release Date Rumours
Mukesh Pandian March 09, 2018
Apple released iOS 10 on 13th June 2016 with a host of new features for app developers. In September 2017, Apple officially rolled out iOS 11 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The version 11 of the mobile platform brought augmented reality (AR) to various Apple devices through ARKit. iOS 11 had an improved Siri with capability to translate sentences into multiple languages more accurately. It had new features including customizable control center, updated Notes app, option to drag and drop content, option to alter screenshots, and record screen activities in video format.
Apple subsequently released iOS 11.1 as a major update with a lot of new features and enhancements. It had improved Photos app, option to enhance battery life, and 70 new emoji characters. It even rolled out iOS 11.2.2 with features to speed up iPhones by about 30%. Recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed the company’s plan to release an iOS 11 update that will enable users to monitor and control health of their iPhone batteries. The next iOS 11 will come with features to extend the battery life of older models of iPhone and prevent unexpected device shutdowns. Apple may roll out the major iOS 11 update in March. Android also released Oreo around the same time. Here is a quick comparison of iOS 11 vs Android Oreo for app developers.
However, Apple is yet to reveal any information about the features or released date of iOS 12 officially. It normally unveils the next version of iOS at its Worldwide Developer Conference. Apple makes several beta preview editions of upcoming editions for evaluation before rolling out the next version of iOS. Apple is expected to unveil iOS 12 at its Worldwide Developer Conference 2018. However, the company is yet to announce the date or schedule of Worldwide Developer Conference 2018. But that does not prevent various bloggers and users to speculate about iOS 12 features and release date.
iOS 12 Release Date Rumours: When will Apple Unveil and Roll Out iOS 12?
Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference 2017 took place in June 2017. Many bloggers speculate that Apple will unveil iOS 12 at the upcoming Worldwide Developer Conference 2018. And this may take place in June 2018. Apple might showcase new editions of iPhone and iPad, which will be powered by iOS 12. Bloggers expect Apple to roll out iOS 12 in September 2018 by targeting the upcoming holiday season. There are speculations about some of the new and improved features to be included in iOS 12. However, Apple will definitely roll out iOS 11 before the holiday season.
What New Features and Enhancements Apple will include in iOS 12?
Unlike Android, iOS does not support multiple user profiles on the same device. Many users expect iOS 12 to support multiple user profiles. It may even come with features to enable owners to set up multiple user profiles and switch between multiple user profiles smoothly. Likewise, many blogger expect iOS 12 to support another widely rumoured feature – black mode. While using a device powered by 12th edition of iOS, the users will have option to reduce brightness drastically and use the device in dark mode. However, the black mode will provide a black theme and allow apps to run in the background.
While reviewing iOS, reviewers often comment on the complexity of camera setting. Users have to spend additional seconds to switch between various modes and resolutions in camera app. iOS 12 may come with simplified camera settings. The redesigned settings will help users to switch between modes and resolutions almost immediately. Also, iOS 12 will come with smarter Siri, detailed indoor maps of shopping centres, and option to operate a panic button with simple touch gestures.
However, we must remember that there is nothing official about the rumours. Apple normally keeps the details of upcoming version of OS secret till its release. iOS app developers have to wait till WWDC 2018 to know what new features Apple will include in iOS 12. Also, they have to wait till Apple rolls out iOS 12 officially to avail the new features and enhancements provided by the 12th edition of iOS.
